The Rites of Summer Celebration held June 20th brought people and drums together,
Following George Smith's talk about the history of percussion and his explanation of the process of
building Orishic Djembe, participants walked to the pond area where they drummed on
George's massive sculpture as other drummers accompanied them with their own drums.
Orishic Djembe required eight months to build, and weighs 5000 pounds.
